It was my very first car, the one I took my drivers license test in, and the one I drove about 200,000 miles in up and down the west coast of the United States. This little red SUV journeyed as far north as Mt. Robson Provincial Park in Alberta, Canada and as far south as California's border with Mexico. Tofino, as it turns out, was the place I’d been dreaming of in my head and referring to as "Neverland". This lakeside Idaho town has two breweries, a couple of adorable coffee shops, a disproportionate number of thrift shops, and even a large indoor ice rink. Adding to the pro's of a winter time visit to McCall is the proximity of outdoor snowy fun to the downtown area. Let's not bother beating around the bush, there is no "wrong" way to travel.
It's a topic which sometimes leaves me considering unfollowing most travel writers and bloggers around the web altogether. I'm so tired of the prescriptive travel advice out there which tells you that you must "travel like a local" or "travel solo" because otherwise you're "just a tourist."
