Photo Essay: Sunset at Praia da Adraga, Portugal

Praia da Agrada, Portugal

On our second night in Portugal, we ventured down to Praia da Adraga to watch the sunset - our very first over the Atlantic Ocean. These few hours we spent beach combing and shooting photos were the first indication that golden hour has an entirely new degree in Portugal. The photos you'll see in this post don't have their saturation levels raised - in fact they're just barely edited at all. This is what golden hour really looks like in Portugal.

It's no wonder we saw so many people worshiping at the wonder of the sun on the beaches here. Neither of us can get over it - this may have been the most beautiful sunset we have ever seen.

The ruggedness of the beach itself certainly adds to the stunning nature, with the rocky arches, jagged sea stacks, and high rocky cliffs - it's a photographers dream. We even saw a couple in their wedding gear getting a trash the dress (and tux) shoot done by a photographer. If you plan on visiting the Sintra region of Portugal, do make some time to watch the sunset at Praia da Adraga - it's a beautiful sight I'll never forget.
