Cape Perpetua on the Oregon Coast Challenge

Trip Video: Oregon Coast Challenge

August 12, 2014

A big thank you to the folks at Travel Oregon for helping make this trip possible by securing us a discounted rate at the fabulous Cannery Pier Hotel and taking care of our night at the Best Western Plus Beachfront Inn. As well as for helping us with plenty of recommendations for what to see and where to eat some great gluten free food along the Oregon Coast. Also, thanks to Bob's Red Mill for providing us with some gluten free granola to fuel our adventures with.

After almost thirty years of living on the west coast, I'm happy to finally say I've driven every mile of it's coast line in the continental United States - at least in terms of major road ways. So now that I've seen it all, I feel I can safely say that the Oregon Coast may just be the very best part. From the amazing views at Cape Perpetua to my new favorite coastal beach, Hug Point - there's a whole lot to see. Certainly enough to deserve more than the day we were able to give it.

When we first started telling people we were going to drive and enjoy the entire Oregon Coast in just one day - a few crazy looks were directed our way. In fairness, the drive between Astoria and Brookings is 338 miles and according to Google Maps takes over seven hours just to drive straight, without stops. However, as the adventurous and ambitious travelers we are (we did plan a trip to Iceland for just 20 hours), we remained completely undeterred and had a fabulous time on our Oregon Coast Challenge.

I hope you enjoy the video, it's my favorite one we've produced so far, and check back in on Thursday for the full details of our itinerary!

After two years of eyeing the plants around the six acres of the @greenvillearms I finally got a chance to play with creating some dry arrangements! Who knew spray paint could be so much fun?!? (Lesson learned: gold spray paint is lame but gold sparkle spray is AMAZING!✨) If you’re in the area this weekend, you can come see them in person at our Winter Maker’s Market!

Starting to consider the concept of a day trip with the 👶 and asking for suggestions for two spots in Western MA in my stories.

In the mean time, here’s a shot from a day trip to Millerton last year when I was just barely pregnant 🤰. At the time this house was on the market (wouldn’t be surprised if it still was...). It’s down a dirt road which parallels the Harlem Valley Rail Trail and I just find it fascinating.

Will that new hairless puppy ever stop crying face. #parsleyface
That thing when you’re not quite ready to commit to specialized tools just for making earring tags - so you make your own! 💪

BTW this pair of North Kingstown earrings is still available in the shop! 😉
